PMDC Headquarters Office Building is a distinguished architectural project located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, exemplifying the harmonious integration of traditional Islamic architectural elements with contemporary sustainable design principles. This innovative office building, designed by architects Maan Bajnaid and Guillaume Credoz, showcases a remarkable adaptation of the traditional Mashrabiya concept, featuring an enclosed lattice-work window projection system that addresses multiple functional and aesthetic objectives. The building's most notable feature is its sophisticated front elevation, where modified Mashrabiya panels create an intricate interplay of light and shadow through orthogonal and diagonal projections, simultaneously providing essential shade, privacy, and ventilation. The structure's southern facade incorporates an innovative porcelain panel system resembling fish scales, engineered with a patented jointing technique that facilitates air circulation through the building's exterior walls. Further enhancing its environmental performance, the building employs reflective insulating silk-screened glass decorated with warm yellow dotted patterns on its east, north, and south elevations, ensuring optimal shading while maintaining adequate natural light levels in interior workspaces. This architectural achievement, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a three-year development process that successfully addresses the challenging environmental conditions of Jeddah's climate while creating a prestigious architectural identity that respects and reinterprets local architectural traditions.
