Plum Port Residential Design

Plum Port Residential Design

Plum Port Residential Design is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies efficient space utilization within a compact 61-square-meter dwelling, completed in 2020 by designer Ma Shao-Hsuan. This sophisticated design solution seamlessly integrates multifunctional storage elements while maintaining the original kitchen and bathroom infrastructure, successfully incorporating two bedrooms, a living room, a dining area, and concealed storage spaces. The design's distinctive approach features the strategic implementation of metal cabinets and varied pegboard door panels, creating a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases exceptional material integration through the use of geometric shapes and coordinated color schemes that establish a serene yet dynamic atmosphere. The design's ingenuity is particularly evident in its innovative wall-replacement strategy, where traditional walls are substituted with multifunctional storage units, including a meticulously designed shoe cabinet featuring dense hole distribution for ventilation purposes. The project's success lies in its thoughtful response to the spatial constraints of urban living, demonstrating how careful planning and material selection can transform a modest space into a sophisticated residence that caters to the practical and psychological needs of its occupant, a fashion designer, while maintaining a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetic refinement.
