Planet 0238 Exhibition Center is an innovative interstellar exploration-themed exhibition space that seamlessly merges commercial functionality with futuristic design elements, spanning an impressive 1800 square meters. Conceived and designed by Lijuan Zhang and Dongmei Zhao, this avant-garde facility draws inspiration from the concept of a planetary explosion, resulting in the birth of a new celestial body brimming with vitality and possibilities. The exhibition center's distinctive design incorporates various specialized zones, including a bubble block, small theater, and children's corner, creating an immersive journey through simulated interstellar space. The facility's architectural highlights include a dramatic overhead light installation that symbolizes the connection between Planet 0238 and the cosmos, while simultaneously serving as a intuitive wayfinding element. The interior design showcases sophisticated material choices, featuring contrasting elements such as black marble surfaces juxtaposed against off-white furnishings, with curved forms that soften spatial boundaries. The sandpan area employs surreal lighting techniques and reflective surfaces to create an infinite spatial illusion, enhanced by strategic mirror placement and lighting effects that simulate a star-filled cosmos. Completed in August 2021, this Silver A' Design Award-winning project represents a departure from conventional exhibition spaces by adopting a new retail pattern that integrates diverse sales scenarios, including a contemporary coffee bar and trendy retail areas, catering to modern youth culture. The design's technical innovation is evident in its careful consideration of material properties, particularly in addressing challenges related to light refraction and gradient effects, resulting in a space that successfully balances commercial functionality with artistic expression.
