Pivot Apartment

Pivot Apartment is an innovative residential design solution that transforms a pre-war studio into a highly adaptable living space, exemplifying the pinnacle of space optimization and multifunctional design. This 37-square-meter apartment seamlessly integrates sophisticated engineering with thoughtful craftsmanship to create a versatile environment capable of accommodating various living scenarios. The design's centerpiece is a pivoting wall system that conceals a secret bedroom while incorporating extensive storage solutions and built-in lighting. Drawing inspiration from Swiss Army knife functionality and high-tech capsule housing concepts, the apartment features FSC-certified Ash wood throughout its construction, creating a unified aesthetic between architectural elements and custom cabinetry. The space demonstrates remarkable versatility through its transformable elements, including a height-adjustable table that serves multiple functions from dining to additional cooking space, and innovative bathroom design featuring a curbless shower overlapping with a double sink. The apartment's sophisticated hardware solutions and custom cabinetry create distinct spatial experiences, transitioning from serene white walls to rich wood interiors, while supporting various activities from hosting dinner parties for up to ten guests to accommodating overnight stays for six people. This exemplary work in interior architecture, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, represents a significant advancement in sustainable urban living solutions, combining aesthetic refinement with practical functionality while maintaining a minimal environmental footprint through its use of low-consumption fixtures and non-VOC finishes.
