PILU Lamp

PILU Lamp

PILU Lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that exemplifies versatile functionality through its distinctive seesaw-inspired design, created by German designer Leoni Werle. This sophisticated illumination solution seamlessly transitions between two positions thanks to its ingeniously engineered base, which incorporates a one-directional joint connecting the lampshade to the structure. The design, which garnered recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, masterfully combines aesthetic appeal with practical functionality. Crafted from premium materials including powder-coated spun aluminum for the lampshade and solid oak for the base, the lamp demonstrates exceptional attention to material selection and craftsmanship. In its upright position, PILU functions as a traditional standing lamp, providing indirect illumination as light cascades down its vertical form. When adjusted to its angled position, it transforms into an effective reading light, ideal for placement near sofas or desks. The lamp is available in two variants: a standing version measuring 500 mm x 250 mm x 1650 mm, and a table version at 200 mm x 100 mm x 700 mm. The design's innovative approach to adjustability while maintaining simplicity in its mechanical operation represents a significant achievement in contemporary lighting design, particularly noteworthy for its integration of playful movement inspired by playground equipment into a sophisticated lighting solution.
