Pierre De Ronsard Baking Shop

Pierre De Ronsard Baking Shop is an innovative retail interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of contemporary aesthetics and functional spatial design, distinguished by its unique approach to boundary dissolution and spatial interaction. Located in Wuxi, China, this 110-square-meter establishment employs a sophisticated design language that draws inspiration from the romantic symbolism of Pierre de Ronsard, the renowned French poet and his namesake rose variety. The space is characterized by its distinctive display framework that emerges through reverse growth patterns, creating an organic flow throughout the interior. The design, conceptualized and executed by Yang Su along with team members Fengshuai Zhang, Daoxiang Gong, and Hai Wang, features laminated metal sheets of varying heights that serve both as display elements and interactive installations. The project's most notable feature is its treatment of spatial boundaries, particularly evident in the perforated curved wall with ivory paint near the main entrance, which showcases gradually varied spacing of holes, creating an ambiguous transition between interior and exterior spaces. This innovative approach to retail design, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional mastery in creating a multidimensional customer experience through its thoughtful integration of circulation paths and unobstructed sightlines. The design philosophy draws from Martin Heidegger's concept of boundaries as points of emergence rather than termination, manifesting this idea through minimalist design elements that blur spatial demarcations while maintaining functional clarity for its primary purpose as a baking shop and dessert display space.
