Pier 38 Restaurant And Bar
Pier 38 Restaurant and Bar is an innovative hospitality design project that masterfully reimagines the ambiance of Middle Eastern docks and shipping yards in a contemporary dining setting. Located within a bustling commercial district, this distinctive establishment stands out through its thoughtful integration of historical maritime elements and sustainable design practices. The interior design scheme employs reclaimed railway sleeper wood as a primary material, showcasing its natural weathered texture alongside rustic dark black tiles and cement-finished walls adorned with brick arches. The space is architecturally organized across multiple levels, featuring an outdoor area designed to resemble a docking bridge that leads into the main restaurant space, where various seating arrangements accommodate different dining preferences. A particularly striking feature is the bar counter, clad with sliced wood blocks and illuminated by repurposed lighthouse beam lights, while custom light fixtures crafted from salvaged drums and cones create atmospheric focal points throughout the space. The central column, wrapped in rough multi-colored slate stone, serves as a dramatic centerpiece surrounded by industrial-inspired lighting elements. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project, completed in 2016, demonstrates exceptional innovation in hospitality design through its sustainable approach to material selection, with most elements sourced from salvage dealers to reduce environmental impact, while successfully creating an immersive dining environment that transports guests to a nostalgic maritime setting of the 1960s and 1970s.
