Petra Dining Table is a monumental sculptural dining table crafted from volcanic stone, designed by Caterina Moretti as a profound homage to Mexican terrain and cultural heritage. This masterfully executed piece, winner of the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a harmonious fusion of functional furniture and artistic expression. The table's distinctive design features a massive top supported by three monolithic columns, with the surface adorned by precisely etched lines that connect three polished stone circles, strategically mirroring the placement of the supporting columns beneath. Measuring 3000 mm x 1200 mm x 750 mm, this substantial piece demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship through its handmade construction and careful material manipulation. The design draws inspiration from Mexico's volcanic landscapes and pre-Columbian mythology, where volcanoes hold significant cultural importance as guardians and mythological portals. The table's composition consists of four primary monolithic pieces: the expansive top and three supporting columns, with two columns conjoined to form a single leg. The surface treatment creates a compelling interplay between polished and natural stone textures, where three circular areas are meticulously polished while the surrounding surface maintains the stone's natural grain.
