Perceptual Linear Construct Residence

Perceptual Linear Construct Residence

Perceptual Linear Construct Residence is an innovative interior architectural design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of rationality and sensibility in contemporary living spaces. This sophisticated residential design, created by Zong Ying Chen, draws profound inspiration from De Stijl artwork, particularly Piet Mondrian's compositional principles, incorporating vertical and horizontal linear elements to create a dynamic spatial experience within a 70-square-meter interior space. The design's distinctive approach manifests through its thoughtful dichotomy between public and private domains, where the public areas flow seamlessly into one another, enhancing spatial freedom and social interaction. The residence features an intelligent integration of smart management systems, including IoT technology, voice recognition, and AI-assisted controls, establishing a forward-thinking living environment. Notable design elements include an adaptable bookshelf system that optimizes space utilization while creating dynamic visual interplay, and a sophisticated material palette that emphasizes the contrast between black metalwork and white surfaces. The project, completed in 2018 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, garnered international recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its exceptional contribution to residential interior design. The design's philosophical foundation rests on the interplay between linearity and non-linearity, manifesting through careful consideration of spatial layering, geometric patterns, and the harmonious integration of furniture elements, ultimately creating an environment that bridges interior and exterior spaces while maintaining a strong artistic presence.
