Pebble Outdoor Sofa

Pebble Outdoor Sofa

Pebble Outdoor Sofa is an innovative outdoor furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of natural inspiration and contemporary functionality. Created by Belgian designer Mattice Boets, this distinctive seating solution draws its aesthetic and tactile qualities from the organic forms of water-worn pebbles, translating their smooth, inviting surfaces into a sophisticated furniture piece. The sofa, measuring 220 cm x 68 cm x 77 cm, features a pioneering use of white-grey cork material in outdoor furniture design, enhanced with a protective bio-coating for weather resistance. Its composition consists of multiple pebble-like cushions that interconnect seamlessly, creating an ergonomic seating arrangement with a 16-degree recline and a total seating angle of 111 degrees. The design accommodates three individuals comfortably, with a prominent central position flanked by two smaller seating areas. This Iron A' Design Award-winning creation in the Furniture Design category represents a significant innovation in outdoor furniture, particularly through its groundbreaking application of cork, which not only enables complex organic forms but also ensures lightweight maneuverability. The sofa's weather-resistant properties allow it to remain outdoors permanently, while its sculptural form creates an engaging visual and tactile experience that mirrors the alluring qualities of natural pebbles. The manufacturing process employs CNC milling technology for precise shaping of the cork components, which are then assembled using wooden connections, demonstrating a sophisticated blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern production methods.
