Path of Daylight Hair Salon is an innovative interior design project completed in March 2020 in Taichung City, Taiwan, that reimagines the traditional salon space through a sophisticated architectural concept inspired by forest paths and cabin aesthetics. The design, created by Jao-Wen Shao, masterfully integrates hardware structures to establish a contemporary metropolitan facade while maintaining a delicate balance between transparency and sophistication. Spanning 100 ping of indoor space, the salon's layout encompasses public areas, a reservation counter, and private salon boxes, each thoughtfully designed to serve distinct clientele. The project's distinctive approach employs black hardware elements to create abstract linear patterns that reinterpret the 'cabin in the woods' concept through a modern lens, eschewing conventional rustic appearances in favor of precise geometric calculations. The interior features a carefully curated material palette including glasses, painted solid wood, mirrors, and light screens, which work in harmony to create dynamic light interactions throughout the space. The design is segmented into specialized zones, including the 'urban gentlemen' and 'socialites' areas, characterized by mature deep-blue and elegant light-pink color schemes respectively, enhanced by lattice work and black linear outlining that establishes a contemporary rhythm. The entrance design particularly exemplifies the project's innovative approach, featuring ironware and light-glass materials that facilitate natural daylight integration while ensuring practical functionality, including a covered driveway access. This exceptional design was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2022, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to spatial design and innovative approach to commercial interior architecture.
