Paper Furniture Collection Chair
Paper Furniture Collection Chair is an innovative and environmentally conscious furniture design that exemplifies the intersection of sustainability and functional artistry. Created by Czech designer Vadim Kibardin, this distinctive armchair comprises 37 paper layers and 28 details of gofer cardboard, demonstrating a revolutionary approach to furniture manufacturing through the creative reuse of everyday materials. The chair's construction methodology involves a meticulous layering process where paper components are systematically assembled to achieve the required structural integrity and height, resulting in dimensions of 780mm width, 650mm depth, and 820mm height. This unique piece, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, represents a significant advancement in sustainable furniture design by transforming conventional paper and cardboard into reliable, functional structures. The design's distinctive feature lies in its interactive nature, allowing users to personalize the form through intentional manipulation of paper layers, creating a dynamic dialogue between the object and its user. The chair not only demonstrates exceptional constructional characteristics but also showcases the aesthetic potential of repurposed materials, challenging traditional furniture manufacturing paradigms while promoting environmental consciousness. Developed between 2017 and 2019 in Prague, this design exemplifies the harmonious balance between chaos and sequence in contemporary furniture design, offering a practical solution for paper waste reduction while maintaining high standards of functionality and artistic expression.
