Paper Brains Exhibition is an innovative and intellectually stimulating exhibition design that transforms a gallery space into a life-sized book page, creating an immersive experience that explores the historical representation of human brains in printed materials. This groundbreaking exhibition, curated by Danne Ojeda in collaboration with book and manuscript studies experts, uniquely presents a visual narrative of how the human brain has been depicted in scientific and artistic contexts throughout different epochs. The exhibition's distinctive design features text pasted directly onto the gallery floor, with images housed within black wooden boxes, allowing visitors to physically navigate through the space as if walking on a book page. The 8480 x 3660 mm installation space cleverly incorporates interactive elements, including recreated fugitive sheets and flap book spreads that visitors can manipulate, offering a hands-on exploration of historical brain representations from the Renaissance to contemporary MRI imaging. This innovative approach to exhibition design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional creativity in addressing the challenges of displaying rare book content while maintaining accessibility and engagement.
