Panel With Emotions Wall Paneling
Panel with Emotions Wall Paneling is an innovative architectural element that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary interior design, created by architect and designer Amee Vora. This sophisticated wall installation, spanning 48 feet in length and 9.5 feet in height, transforms a residential hallway into an artistic narrative inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's poetic exploration of the mother-child relationship in Champa Flower. The design employs intricate marquetry techniques, a regional craft from Mysore and Bangalore, utilizing various wood species including teak, mahogany, ebony, cherry, and walnut to create depth and dimension in the depicted landscape. The paneling features a meticulously crafted grove of Frangipani trees, enhanced with mother-of-pearl shell inlays representing flowers and birds, creating a seamless visual narrative that flows throughout the space. This Silver A' Design Award-winning creation demonstrates exceptional technical expertise in its construction, incorporating 20mm thick solid teak wood planks interlocked with dominoes and backed by gurjan plywood, engineered to accommodate natural wood movement. The installation required precise coordination between on-site and workshop locations, taking 100 working days to complete, and represents a masterful integration of storytelling, craftsmanship, and architectural design that connects children's and parents' bedrooms while celebrating traditional Indian artisanal skills in a contemporary context.
