Pac Man Side Table With Lights

Pac Man Side Table With Lights

Pac Man Side Table With Lights is an innovative furniture design that seamlessly merges nostalgic gaming culture with contemporary functionality, created by Chinese designer Yu Ren. This sophisticated piece of furniture, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a masterful fusion of classic arcade gaming aesthetics with modern lighting technology. The design draws inspiration from the iconic Pac-Man video game character, incorporating its distinctive silhouette into a functional side table measuring 450mm in width, 450mm in depth, and 500mm in height. The table's construction employs an integral plate heat bending process, featuring premium marble for both the upper and lower panels, while ingeniously integrating an adjustable LED lighting system within its handle mechanism. This multifunctional piece demonstrates remarkable technical innovation through its interactive lighting control system - as the handle is raised, the light intensity increases proportionally, with the maximum illumination achieved at a 90-degree angle. The design incorporates touch-sensitive temperature control, allowing users to adjust the color temperature of the low-heat LED light strip according to their preferences. The lower shelf space cleverly mimics the Pac-Man character's signature open-mouth posture, embodying the philosophical concept of I eat, therefore I am while providing practical storage functionality. Developed in Shenzhen between June and September 2022, this design responds to contemporary lifestyle changes and the growing demand for intelligent, multifunctional home furnishings that combine practical utility with emotional resonance.
