Out Of Frame Art Apartment
Out Of Frame Art Apartment is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully integrates art collection display with contemporary living spaces, completed in 2017 in Taichung City. This sophisticated 137-square-meter apartment represents a revolutionary approach to residential design, treating living spaces as curated gallery environments while maintaining practical functionality. The design philosophy centers on creating a harmonious dialogue between daily life and artistic expression, featuring thoughtfully planned spaces including a living room, master bedroom, two children's bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The project's distinctive material palette combines steel pieces with titanium coating, pine plywood, white marble, and contrasting flooring solutions - wood herringbone parquet in bedrooms and Pandomo in public areas. The color scheme artfully balances white and gray bases with accent pastel green and gold hardware accessories, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a professional art gallery while maintaining domestic warmth. A particularly innovative aspect of the design is its treatment of the L-shaped living and dining area, where a long dining table combined with a marble countertop island creates a central gathering space that enhances spatial flow and social interaction. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional expertise in lighting design, utilizing a subtle balance of artificial and natural light to highlight architectural features and art pieces, similar to museum-quality exhibition spaces. The designer, Cheng Hsuan Huang, successfully created a living environment that transcends traditional residential design by incorporating principles of art curation and exhibition design, effectively transforming everyday living spaces into a sophisticated platform for art appreciation and contemporary living.
