Ormankoy Community Centre Nature

Ormankoy Community Centre Nature is an innovative architectural project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of built environment with natural surroundings, distinguished by its unique approach to community space design. Located at an elevated position overlooking a 60,000-square-meter natural park, this remarkable structure features two distinctive gable roofs that gracefully descend to ground level, creating a striking visual impact while maintaining functional efficiency. The design incorporates two biological ponds totaling 4,000 square meters, establishing a vital intersection between the community center and its natural environment. The structure's sophisticated design employs a steel frame construction supported by concrete beams spanning 18 meters above the pool space, demonstrating exceptional engineering prowess. A defining characteristic of the project is its wooden shell cladding, deliberately chosen to age naturally, reflecting the seasonal changes of the surrounding forest, while extensive glazed façades dissolve boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. The project's environmental consciousness is evident in its water management approach, with two multi-level ponds designed to maintain potable water quality without harsh chemicals, ensuring safety for both domestic pets and local wildlife. This thoughtful integration of architecture and nature earned the project a Platinum A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to architectural innovation and environmental harmony. The design, completed in June 2020, represents a significant advancement in sustainable community architecture, offering a model for future developments that seek to balance human needs with environmental preservation.
