Open Space 1=3 Residential House

Open Space 1=3 Residential House

Open Space 1=3 Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies contemporary living solutions for DINK (Double Income No Kids) households, completed in 2018 in Taichung City, Taiwan. This sophisticated 139-square-meter dwelling, designed by architect Lulu Cheng, introduces a revolutionary spatial concept where three distinct areas - living, lounge, and bedroom - are seamlessly connected in a linear arrangement, with the lounge strategically positioned as a transitional space between public and private domains. The design's philosophical foundation rests on the concept of 1=3, manifested through multi-level spaces that create a harmonious flow while maintaining functional distinction. The material palette demonstrates a thoughtful integration of rough stone, warm antique wood, and cork, establishing a modern yet natural atmosphere that resonates with sophisticated contemporary living. The project's distinctive approach to spatial organization prioritizes openness and flexibility, allowing for adaptable living arrangements while maintaining a clear delineation between social and private spaces. The interior's carefully curated color scheme employs sedate tones to enhance the sophisticated ambiance, while the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor landscapes creates a holistic living environment. This exemplary residential design, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2019, showcases innovative solutions for modern urban living through its meticulous attention to spatial planning, material selection, and the integration of natural elements, ultimately creating a living space that perfectly balances functionality with aesthetic refinement.
