Onewood Interior
Onewood Interior is a multi-functional entertainment space that exemplifies innovative spatial design through its unique three-tiered conceptual approach, drawing inspiration from ancient Chinese mythology about the god of wine, Du Kang. Located in Beijing, this 396-square-meter establishment masterfully integrates distinct atmospheric environments across three levels, each representing different archetypal personalities of drinkers: scholar, general, and maniac. The underground floor, spanning 132 square meters, showcases a particularly remarkable design featuring old surgical lights, flashing TV walls, abandoned experimental stations, and neon lights, creating an immersive environment that challenges conventional interior design norms. The space demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its material selection, lighting design, and spatial organization, with the ground floor incorporating traditional Beijing brick walls and a four-meter-high wine cabinet corridor that seamlessly blends old-school Beijing style with industrial elements. The second floor's design centers around a prominent central bar that effectively divides the space into two distinct areas, offering both social and contemplative experiences. The project, completed between August 2018 and July 2019, represents a significant achievement in contemporary interior design, particularly for its innovative interpretation of traditional Chinese cultural elements within a modern context. The design team collaborated with film industry professionals to realize their vision, particularly in the creation of the underground space's theatrical atmosphere. This exceptional work was recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to spatial design and its successful integration of cultural narratives with contemporary functionality.
