One Barbecue Restaurant is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the traditional northeastern Chinese barbecue dining experience through sophisticated spatial planning and contemporary architectural elements. Located in Shenyang, this 1000-square-meter establishment represents a significant advancement in restaurant design, particularly in its approach to transforming a challenging second and third-floor market space into an engaging dining destination. The design philosophy masterfully integrates local culinary culture with modern spatial concepts, employing industrial-style elements such as exposed cement walls and cast aluminum rework wall lamps to create an atmosphere of authentic ruggedness and simplicity. A notable architectural intervention involves the strategic sacrifice of partial third-floor slab area for a pilotis design, which introduces natural light and enhances spatial connectivity between floors. The project, completed in 2023, demonstrates exceptional innovation in its response to spatial constraints, incorporating a street-level window and auxiliary kitchen to accommodate local dining preferences and takeaway services. The interior's material authenticity and deliberate absence of superfluous decoration establish a bold yet welcoming environment that resonates with contemporary urban dining culture. This design, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully elevates the traditional barbecue dining concept through its thoughtful integration of functionality, cultural sensitivity, and architectural ingenuity.
