Olympic Studios Set Design
Olympic Studios Set design is a sophisticated and innovative broadcasting environment created for the coverage of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, comprising two distinct yet complementary studio spaces that exemplify excellence in set design and broadcasting functionality. The primary Olympic Studio, spanning 170 square meters, was strategically positioned within the Olympic Park to maintain proximity to the public, featuring an integrated five-space layout that facilitated multiple show formats while preserving individual program identities. The design drew inspiration from Rio de Janeiro's characteristic organic and sinuous forms, incorporating elements that conveyed agility, fluidity, and dynamism. The secondary Panoramic Studio, occupying 70 square meters on the twelfth floor of a commercial building overlooking the Olympic Park, provided a more analytical and dynamic perspective for 24-hour live transmission. Both studios employed a carefully curated selection of materials including MDF, styrofoam, acrylic, and leather, chosen specifically for their lightweight properties and ability to harmonize with sophisticated LED illumination systems. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Performing Arts, Stage, Style and Scenery Design category, demonstrated exceptional innovation in its approach to operational efficiency, particularly in its solution for minimal impact during scenery changes and furniture storage. The design's fluid architecture allowed for versatile camera positioning and framing options without requiring physical alterations to the set, while incorporating advanced technological solutions to manage light reflection on glass surfaces without compromising natural environmental elements.
