Oink Packaging

Oink Packaging is an innovative packaging design solution developed for traditional meat products derived from Slavonian black pigs, exemplifying a harmonious blend of cultural heritage and contemporary design aesthetics. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2021, features distinctive illustrations executed in linocut technique, skillfully digitized and adapted for various packaging formats including tube and box configurations. The packaging system encompasses multiple dimensions, with tube packaging measuring 60mm x 60mm x 560mm and 130mm x 60mm x 360mm, and box packaging measuring 195mm x 140mm x 110mm, addressing the challenge of accommodating standard vacuum films while elevating the visual presentation. The design concept cleverly incorporates the onomatopoeic term Oink with a subtle reference to ink, alluding to the black pig heritage, while the artisanal linocut illustrations depict various meat products including bacon, sausages, and traditional kulen salami against a distinctive pig skin texture background. This comprehensive packaging solution not only overcomes practical challenges in production, storage, and delivery but also successfully communicates the product's premium quality, traditional craftsmanship, and authentic origins through its visual narrative. The design's implementation has significantly enhanced brand perception while streamlining operational efficiency, demonstrating how thoughtful packaging design can transform practical constraints into strategic advantages. The project, completed in Osijek between April and October 2019, represents a significant achievement in packaging design, where functional requirements are seamlessly integrated with brand storytelling and visual appeal.
