Object of Serenity Residence is an innovative interior architectural design project completed in 2017 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates natural materials with unconventional structural elements to create a unique living space spanning 160 square meters. The design, conceived by Hsuan-Ta Chiu, employs a deconstructionist methodology to achieve unsymmetrical diversity and spatial intrigue. The residence features distinctive elements including an asymmetrical shoe stool at the foyer that combines aesthetic appeal with practical functionality, and a sophisticated television wall adorned with varying sizes of stone that creates compelling stereoscopic visuals. The living and dining areas are connected through stylishly slanted walls of disproportional scales, which serve both as artistic statements and functional storage solutions. A notable feature is the dining area crafted from complete rock, complemented by floors decorated with inconsistent homogeneous tiles that enhance the space's refined character. The ceiling design is particularly remarkable, featuring an inconsistent slant white surface that dramatically intersects with concrete walls, creating an effect reminiscent of a large-scale indoor sculpture. The implementation of fair-faced concrete throughout the space effectively blurs the distinction between residential architecture and artistic expression, while the incorporation of natural materials and irregular structures establishes a genuine spatial idiosyncrasy. This innovative approach to residential design, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully addresses practical challenges such as furniture preservation in a parrot-inhabited home while maintaining an artistic vision that transcends conventional residential design paradigms.
