Novacolor Paint Showroom

Novacolor Paint Showroom

Novacolor Paint Showroom is an innovative retail interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of artistic expression and functional exhibition space, situated within a shopping mall in Shantou, Guangdong Province, China. This 180-square-meter showroom, completed in July 2020, represents a masterful transformation of a previously underutilized corner space into a compelling destination for experiencing paint and material textures. The design, conceived by chief designer Peihe Xie, employs sophisticated geometric principles and thoughtful spatial organization to showcase over 200 paint textures and colors in an aesthetically cohesive manner. The showroom's distinctive features include a strategically downsized transitional entrance that creates an immersive emotional journey, complemented by a suspended blue ellipsoid that establishes a powerful visual dialogue with the curved floor plan. The space artfully combines contrasting elements through its material palette, incorporating natural concave-convex metallic textures alongside blue sheepskin surfaces, while the innovative use of tensioned membrane structures emphasizes the interplay of light and shadow throughout the environment. The design successfully addresses the challenge of low foot traffic through its compelling architectural narrative and experiential quality, utilizing materials such as stainless steel, microciment, transparent film, and switchable glass to create distinct zones for product display and customer interaction. This exceptional project, which garnered a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to retail design that transcends conventional showroom concepts through its integration of artistic elements, material innovation, and spatial psychology.
