Notch Tea Packaging

Notch Tea Packaging is an innovative and aesthetically refined tea packaging design that reimagines the conventional cubic box through a distinctive architectural intervention, featuring a strategic notch on one of its corners that fundamentally transforms the product's presentation and user interaction. Created by Mexican designer Sofía Enríquez, this minimalist packaging solution measures 100mm in all dimensions and incorporates a 45-degree angular face that enables the package to stand at an engaging tilt, creating an unconventional yet functional display orientation. The design seamlessly integrates Japanese cultural elements, drawing inspiration from cherry blossoms and minimalist aesthetics, while maintaining practical functionality through its cube-like structure that optimizes distribution efficiency. The packaging's distinctive features include a transparent frontal window that offers visibility of the contents, ample surface area for branding and product information, and a reusable flip-top closure system. Constructed from light cardboard, the design underwent multiple prototyping iterations to achieve precise folding mechanics and clean structural integrity. The visual design incorporates metallic effects, achievable through various printing techniques including metallic inks, foil stamping, or serigraphy, adding a premium finish to the overall presentation. This innovative approach to tea packaging, which won an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, successfully addresses the dual challenges of creating a functionally efficient package while offering an decorative element that encourages display rather than storage, effectively transforming a routine household item into an engaging design object that enhances the consumer's experience and living space.
