Nopales Lamp is an innovative modular lighting design that transforms from a flat Printed Circuit Board (PCB) into a three-dimensional cactus-shaped luminaire, representing a groundbreaking fusion of technical engineering and artistic expression. Drawing inspiration from Mexican landscapes, this ingenious design allows users to manually separate interlocking pieces from a single PCB and assemble them into various sculptural configurations, creating a personalized illuminated botanical form. The lamp's sophisticated engineering enables both mechanical and electrical connections through carefully designed interlocking mechanisms, eliminating the need for traditional connectors or soldering. Operating with a CR2032 battery and controlled by a microcontroller, the lamp features multiple brightness levels and an auto-sleep timer for energy efficiency. When flat, the design measures 84x125x5mm, expanding to approximately 50x50x100mm when assembled, making it highly portable and efficient for shipping. The design's technical innovation lies in its unique approach to PCB manufacturing, challenging conventional applications by transforming an typically utilitarian component into an interactive, aesthetic object. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning creation in the Product Engineering and Technical Design category represents a significant advancement in modular lighting design, combining sustainable engineering principles with interactive user experience.
