Nightside Table Lamp is an innovative lighting solution designed to revolutionize bedside illumination through its dual-functionality approach, combining ambient lighting with directional spotlight capabilities. Created by furniture designer Jess Gupta in San Francisco, this sophisticated lighting fixture represents a significant advancement in nighttime illumination technology, particularly recognized for winning the Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category. The lamp's distinguishing feature lies in its patented optical projection system, which utilizes a single LED to generate both a gentle ambient glow and a focused spotlight, achieving remarkable energy efficiency with power consumption under one watt. The design incorporates an ingenious extendable reflector mechanism, activated by pressing the top of the lamp, which can be adjusted up to ninety degrees to direct focused illumination precisely where needed. Constructed with premium materials including aluminum components, injection-molded plastic, optical lenses, and cotton fabric, the lamp measures 150mm in width and depth, with a height of 450mm. The sophisticated engineering encompasses a custom-designed PCB controlling a warm-white 3000K Cree LED, powered via USB-C connectivity. The development process, initiated in 2018, involved extensive research in optics and user experience testing, resulting in a product that effectively addresses the common challenge of reading at night without disturbing others.
