Nha Nhim Homestay

Nha Nhim Homestay

Nha Nhim Homestay is an innovative architectural project located in Da Lat City, Vietnam, that exemplifies sustainable design principles through creative material upcycling and adaptive spatial solutions. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning residential structure, completed in 2017, masterfully addresses the challenges of a narrow 290-square-meter site with an 8-meter width by employing an elevated design strategy that maximizes space utilization and creates engaging viewports throughout the property. The homestay's distinctive architectural approach incorporates recycled materials from local sources, including repurposed textile factory waste, wood cells, and tree branches, transforming what would typically be considered waste into functional and aesthetic elements. The design features a carefully considered sloped roof system that mediates Da Lat's unique climate conditions, providing protection from cold winds while facilitating natural ventilation and daylight penetration. With a floor area ratio of 0.8 and a total built-up area of 232 square meters, the project demonstrates exceptional space efficiency while maintaining a harmonious relationship with its mountainous surroundings. The structure's modular composition promotes optimal air circulation and natural lighting, significantly reducing reliance on artificial energy sources. Through its innovative approach to waste material utilization and spatial organization, Nha Nhim Homestay represents a significant achievement in sustainable architecture that successfully balances environmental responsibility with functional and aesthetic excellence.
