Nexo On Board Unit

Nexo On Board Unit

Nexo On Board Unit is an innovative digital transportation interface device that combines driver console functionality with comprehensive fare collection management capabilities for public transit vehicles. This sophisticated piece of equipment, designed by Murat Armagan, represents a significant advancement in public transport technology by integrating multiple payment systems including NFC card readers, ticket printers, and QR code scanners into a single, ergonomically designed unit. The device's distinguishing feature is its adaptable mounting system, allowing for precise X and Y axis adjustments to accommodate optimal driver viewing angles regardless of vehicle configuration. Its symmetrical design enables universal application in both right-hand and left-hand drive vehicles, demonstrating thoughtful consideration for global market requirements. Constructed from robust PC-ABS material using injection molding techniques, the unit measures 243mm in height, 255mm in width, and 295mm in depth, weighing approximately 4kg. The device serves as either a comprehensive supervisor for all on-board equipment or functions as a standalone system, facilitating real-time passenger information management and automatic vehicle location tracking. This innovative design, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category, addresses the complex challenges of modern public transportation by combining multiple functionalities into a space-efficient, durable solution that enhances both driver operation and passenger service delivery.
