NEPTO - Shield Watch is an innovative timepiece design that exemplifies the fusion of historical symbolism and contemporary aesthetics in luxury watchmaking. Drawing inspiration from the Paris coat of arms, specifically the emblem of the Marchands de l'eau (water merchants), this distinctive timepiece reimagines traditional watch shapes through a sophisticated geometric lens. The design features a shield-shaped case crafted from 316L solid stainless steel, measuring 40mm in diameter and maintaining a slim 7mm profile, while weighing a mere 50 grams. The watch incorporates a K1 glass lens, chosen for its superior durability compared to conventional mineral glass due to specialized chemical treatment. Developed between February and December 2018, this timepiece represents a significant innovation in watch design, challenging the conventional circular and rectangular case shapes dominant in the industry. The design philosophy emphasizes minimalism and elegance, featuring refined lines and precise proportions that create a bold yet sophisticated aesthetic. The watch's unique shield-shaped case not only serves as a distinctive design element but also enhances wearability and comfort. This innovative approach to watch design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving an Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category, acknowledging its contribution to contemporary timepiece design.
