Nature Base Residential House

Nature Base Residential House

Nature Base Residential House is an award-winning residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural elements with contemporary living spaces. Located in the Beitou District of Taipei, Taiwan, this sophisticated 185-square-foot dwelling represents a masterful transformation of a pre-sale home into a thoughtfully curated living environment that bridges the gap between interior and exterior spaces. Designed by Chin-Shu Chen, River Chiang, and Chin-Tang Chen, the project showcases an innovative approach to spatial organization, featuring one large room, two dedicated study spaces, a living room, and a dining kitchen, all carefully arranged to optimize natural light and circulation. The design's distinctive character emerges through its meticulous material selection, incorporating diatomaceous earth, chiseled stones, wire-brushed paulownia wood, and carbonized smoked oak, which collectively create a lightweight visual aesthetic while addressing the region's humidity challenges. The project's sophisticated design language is evident in its deliberate lowered terrace floor level, strategic use of carbonized wood flooring, and garden landscaping elements that enhance the living experience. Large windows serve as portals for abundant natural light and surrounding greenery, effectively dissolving the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial planning, material innovation, and environmental consciousness. The project's success lies in its ability to create a balanced dialogue between human habitation and natural elements, while accommodating the owners' specific needs, including dedicated spaces for art collection and paper sculpture design, all executed within a refined palette that emphasizes contrast and visual harmony.
