Nature Balance Residence House

Nature Balance Residence House

Nature Balance Residence House is an award-winning residential architectural renovation project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of interior spaces with natural surroundings. Located on the edge of a river in Shediac River, New Brunswick, Canada, this 207.5-square-meter residence underwent a comprehensive transformation focused on creating a fluid connection between indoor and outdoor environments. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space Design category, features strategic architectural modifications including the relocation of the central staircase to the north-facing wall, elimination of compartmentalizing wall partitions, and the partial opening of the second floor to the living area below. These modifications facilitated higher ceilings and expansive window installations, effectively dissolving the boundary between interior and exterior spaces. The ground floor encompasses an open-concept layout integrating kitchen, dining, and living areas, highlighted by a floating fireplace that complements the riverside views. The second floor houses the master suite with walk-in closet, master bathroom, and secondary bedroom, all designed with unobstructed sight lines and minimalist aesthetics. The basement level introduces an eccentric color palette and unique components to create an uplifting atmosphere. The project, completed between January 2016 and July 2017, demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental considerations, with extensive research conducted on seasonal variations, climatic conditions, and lighting patterns to optimize the design's relationship with its natural context. The interior design philosophy emphasizes transparency, flexibility, and simplicity, utilizing minimal furniture and artwork to create breathing space for each element, resulting in a tranquil refuge that serves as a perfect counterpoint to busy urban life.
