Narrative of Stacking Residence is an award-winning architectural renovation project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of art collection display and residential living space. This 165-square-meter residence, completed in 2018 in New Taipei City, represents a sophisticated approach to interior architecture through its innovative use of sliding panel systems and thoughtful spatial reorganization. The design's most distinctive feature is its exhibition wall system, comprising 12 sliding panels arranged in six layers, which serves as both a storage solution and display mechanism for the client's extensive contemporary art collection. The interior design employs a refined palette of neutral colors - black, white, grey, and earth tones - complemented by natural materials including genuine timber veneer, ironwork, and concrete-finished surfaces. The renovation successfully addressed multiple challenges, including the improvement of natural lighting, vista optimization, and circulation flow, while maintaining sensitivity to the elderly client's established living patterns. The project's spatial reconfiguration oriented the living room towards the lake view, creating an open, gallery-like atmosphere that enhances both the display of artwork and daily living experience. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining functional residential requirements with sophisticated art display solutions.
