Nanxiang Incity Visual Signage System is an innovative wayfinding and visual communication design solution that seamlessly integrates cultural symbolism with functional signage for an urban commercial space. The system draws its primary inspiration from the cultural significance of cranes in pairs, transforming these graceful avian forms into abstract artistic elements that serve both aesthetic and practical purposes throughout the space. Developed between 2018 and 2020, this comprehensive signage system employs sophisticated technical solutions, including specially designed light boxes with white ink blocking printing technology to enhance text clarity and visibility. The design incorporates mirror pivot points in hanging elements to minimize visual interference while maintaining environmental harmony. The system's implementation spans multiple dimensions, with light boxes measuring 1145x2160mm, lifting components of 1500x640mm, and outdoor displays of 3000x1700mm. The project's innovative approach to cultural integration is evident in its varied crane motifs, which adapt to different areas of the space, symbolizing concepts such as dancing and returning, thereby creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The design, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, demonstrates exceptional technical excellence in addressing practical challenges, such as the development of specialized bending frames for improved maintenance access and enhanced visual presentation.
