Nanjing Youth Olympic Center Restaurant Restaurant is an innovative interior design project located on the fifth floor of the Youth Olympic Conference Center, encompassing approximately 1,500 square meters of dining space that masterfully integrates cultural elements with contemporary design aesthetics. The restaurant's design, conceived by Jian Wang and team in 2016-2017, draws inspiration from the flowing waters of the Yangtze River and the historical architecture of ancient city wall bricks, translating these elements into modern architectural language through sophisticated material applications and spatial arrangements. The interior space features distinctive irregular quadrilateral wall arrangements that symbolize movement and vitality, aligning with the Olympic spirit while maintaining an elegant and simple overall aesthetic. The design employs a carefully curated selection of materials including GRG, wood grain stone, wood veneer, metal fluorocarbon paint, glass, and epoxy terrazzo, creating a harmonious blend of textures and surfaces. A notable feature is the arc-shaped dynamic photosensitive zone that artistically interprets the undulating patterns of the Yangtze River, demonstrating an innovative approach to incorporating natural elements into architectural design. The project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in combining functional requirements with artistic expression, while addressing the challenges of integrating with the main building's architectural style and local cultural context. The space utilizes both natural and artificial lighting to create distinct atmospheric conditions, with particular attention paid to acoustic design and environmental sustainability, resulting in a dining environment that successfully balances modern international design principles with cultural authenticity.
