Nagrada Award

Nagrada Award

Nagrada Award is an innovative chess tournament trophy design that exemplifies the transformative journey of a player's progress, symbolically represented through the metamorphosis of a pawn into a queen. Created in 2020 by art director Igor Dydykin and his team during the global pandemic, this sophisticated award design addresses the unique challenges of online chess tournaments by offering a solution that is both aesthetically pleasing and practically transportable. The award's distinctive construction features two flat figures - a queen and a pawn - crafted from durable stainless steel, which interlock through precisely engineered slots to form a unified sculptural piece. Standing at 280mm in height and weighing 0.57 kg, the trophy demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its manufacturing process, utilizing waterjet cutting technology followed by manual grinding, polishing, and electrochemical finishing. The design's ingenuity lies in its ability to be easily disassembled for efficient worldwide shipping while maintaining its prestigious appearance and structural integrity. The award's surface can be customized through engraving and color applications to suit specific tournament requirements, making it a versatile choice for various chess competitions. This innovative design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Award, Trophy, Prize and Competition Design category, acknowledging its contribution to normalizing competitive activities during periods of social isolation and its elegant solution to the challenges of remote prize distribution.
