N8-house [ House Of III-BOX ] Residential House

N8-house [ House of III-BOX ] Residential House is an innovative residential architectural design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of contemporary aesthetics with natural elements, completed in 2013 in Omura city, Nagasaki, Japan. This Gold A' Design Award-winning structure, designed by architect Masahiko Sato, features a distinctive composition of three interconnected boxes that create a unique spatial arrangement, maximizing both privacy and family interaction. The two-story residence, reaching a height of 7.38 meters, showcases a sophisticated interplay between inorganic concrete columns on the exterior walls, which create a rhythmic facade, and warm wooden elements used extensively in the walls, beams, and front door. A notable architectural feature is the wooden cantilever that gives the first floor an illusion of floating, while the strategic placement of a skylight in the living room ceiling introduces natural illumination throughout the interior spaces. The design philosophy emphasizes the connection between indoor and outdoor environments, particularly evident in the privacy garden that adjoins the kitchen and dining areas. The structure's environmental consciousness is reflected in its material selection, with natural wood elements providing natural moisture regulation throughout the interior. The house demonstrates exceptional nocturnal characteristics, as its shadows transform with moonlight and starlight, creating dynamic visual expressions that enhance its architectural presence. The spatial organization prioritizes both independence and connectivity among rooms, while the overall design maintains a strong focus on creating a warm, homey atmosphere that facilitates family communication and harmonious living.
