Municipal Toy Library Of Dólar, Granada Nursery

Municipal Toy Library of Dólar, Granada Nursery is an innovative architectural project located in the southern perimeter of Dólar, Granada, Spain, that exemplifies thoughtful design integration with rural landscapes at the foothills of Sierra Nevada. This single-story, diaphanous structure, designed by architects Carlos Quevedo Rojas and Carlos Peinado Madueño, represents a remarkable achievement in cost-effective public architecture, completed in 2017 with a budget of 450 euros per square meter. The 123.88-square-meter facility features an organic architectural form that creates a harmonious dialogue with its surroundings, incorporating a functional division between service areas in the eastern section and an open playroom space in the western portion that embraces the natural landscape. The design's sophistication is evident in its carefully considered spatial organization, marked by red and white linoleum flooring that defines distinct functional zones. The building's innovative fragmented flat roof design introduces natural light and ventilation to the central play area, enhancing the spatial quality and user experience. The construction employs a pragmatic yet effective combination of materials, including a mixed steel and concrete structure, termoarcilla closings, and finishes of lime mortar, plaster, and linoleum, demonstrating excellence in sustainable and economical design solutions. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category stands as a testament to the successful integration of social purpose, architectural innovation, and economic efficiency in public infrastructure.
