Jiri Goroshe Wine and Beer Bar is an innovative architectural design project that seamlessly integrates modern hospitality spaces with traditional Korean elements, situated in the picturesque valley of Mount Jiri. This conceptual bar, designed by Shinyoung Park in 2017, exemplifies a harmonious blend between contemporary architecture and natural surroundings, spanning 69 square meters with a distinctive angular form that mirrors the mountainous landscape. The structure's design philosophy centers on two fundamental harmonies: the fusion of modern and traditional elements, demonstrated through the incorporation of Korean lighting fixtures and traditional objets d'art within a contemporary architectural framework, and the seamless integration of nature and built environment, achieved through its mountain-inspired form and expansive windows that capture panoramic views. The building's innovative design features include a truss structure, exposed mass concrete, and artificial seamless cliff tile walls, creating a space that functions as both a café during daylight hours and an atmospheric bar by night. The interior layout is thoughtfully arranged with dedicated areas for product introduction, tasting, and mountain viewing, complemented by strategic mirror placement to enhance spatial perception. The establishment, which received recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, serves as a promotional venue for traditional Korean liquors, particularly those crafted using mineral-rich Goroshe tree sap harvested from the mountain's 1400-meter elevation, embodying eco-friendly practices and local cultural heritage.
