Morning Coats

Morning coats, also known as morning suits, are a type of formal men's attire commonly worn for daytime events such as weddings, funerals, and horse races. The morning coat is a single-breasted coat that is cut away at the front, with a long tail at the back that falls just above the knee. It is usually made of black or dark grey wool, although other colors and fabrics may be used for less formal occasions. The morning coat is typically worn with a matching pair of trousers, which are usually striped in black and grey or another muted color. A waistcoat, usually in a contrasting color or pattern, is worn underneath the coat, along with a white dress shirt and a tie or cravat. Accessories such as a top hat, gloves, and a pocket square may also be worn to complete the look. The morning coat originated in the late 18th century as a less formal alternative to the tailcoat, which was the standard formal attire at the time. It became popular in the 19th century and has remained a staple of formal men's fashion ever since. While it is most commonly associated with British and European formal wear, it is also worn in other parts of the world, particularly for formal daytime events.
