MoKe Experience Pavilion Experience Pavilion

MoKe Experience Pavilion Experience Pavilion is an innovative retail space and brand experience center designed to showcase a contemporary ink brand for modern literati, created by designers Zhou You and Cao Liang. This architecturally significant interior space, completed in Beijing in 2017, revolutionizes the traditional concept of ink appreciation through a multisensory experiential design approach that engages visitors through smell, hearing, touch, and taste. The pavilion's distinctive design philosophy manifests through its sophisticated black and white color scheme, which serves both as a visual identity element and a spatial organizing principle. The experience unfolds across four carefully curated zones, each dedicated to a different sensory engagement: an olfactory space enclosed by art paper-textured silk cloth creating a mysterious atmosphere, an auditory area featuring black cobblestones that introduce an element of tactile and acoustic interest, a contemporary tattoo parlor that bridges traditional ink culture with modern expression, and additional sensory exploration spaces. The design's innovative approach to brand storytelling is exemplified by the deconstructed Chinese character moke transformed into suspended architectural elements, creating striking visual impact while maintaining cultural relevance. This groundbreaking retail concept earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial innovation and experiential retail design. The pavilion's success lies in its ability to transcend conventional retail boundaries, offering a cross-boundary interactive experience that elevates product engagement while preserving the cultural significance of traditional ink appreciation for a new generation of consumers.
