This reconfigurable pendant lamp, designed by Nhi Ton, represents a sophisticated exploration of mountain and valley origami folds, incorporating the mathematical concept of the Möbius strip to create a continuous surface that symbolizes the duality of conscious and unconscious human experience. The lamp's distinctive design, measuring 610 mm x 305 mm x 1270 mm, features a lampshade crafted from a single flat sheet of paper covered in linen fabric, demonstrating exceptional material efficiency and structural integrity. The mechanism employs a combination of simple hardware and CNC-cut brass plates and discs to house electrical components, all designed with disassembly in mind for sustainable manufacturing. The lamp's unique interactive feature allows users to transform its shape through the rotation of two triangle plates, enabling customization to suit various environmental contexts and personal preferences. This design, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western design philosophies, embodying the Taoist principle of dynamic reconciliation of opposites through its elegant integration of solid and void, surface and depth, and light and dark elements.
