Mmm Tableware is an innovative ceramic dining collection that draws inspiration from the rolling mountains of southern China, embodying both aesthetic beauty and functional design principles. The collection, designed by a team of Chinese designers, consists of three distinct sizes of plates that feature unique undulating surfaces reminiscent of natural topography. Each piece incorporates raised sections that serve as natural dividers for different food items or sauces, ensuring flavors remain distinct during dining experiences. The dimensions range from 280mm in length for the largest plate to 120mm for the smallest, with each piece maintaining a consistent height of 20mm. The tableware's distinctive design features smooth, curved edges that have been ergonomically crafted to maximize comfort during handling, while the high-quality Jingdezhen ceramics ensure durability and maintain a lasting glossy finish. When not in use, the pieces create an artistic display resembling a mountainous landscape, transforming from functional tableware to decorative elements. This dual-purpose aspect represents a thoughtful approach to contemporary dining design, where functionality meets aesthetic appeal. The collection, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, demonstrates innovative thinking in tableware design through its integration of cultural elements, practical functionality, and visual appeal. The design process, which spanned from September 2015 to February 2016, involved extensive research into user interaction, washing efficiency, and optimal sizing for various dining scenarios.
