Mehr Khaneh Residential Interior

Mehr Khaneh Residential Interior

Mehr Khaneh Residential Interior is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully combines contemporary design elements with traditional Persian architectural principles. Located in Kiev, Ukraine, this 101-square-meter space, completed in 2016, represents a sophisticated fusion of industrial aesthetics and cultural symbolism. The design, created by architects Nima Keivani, Sina Keivani, and Solmaz Fooldai, draws profound inspiration from Persian architectural elements, particularly Mithraism and solar symbolism. The interior's most distinctive feature is its innovative staircase design, which references historic mihrabs and ziggurats, symbolizing the ascension towards light and wisdom. The project employs a thoughtful material palette including exposed concrete, rebar, and metal oxide finishes, balanced with warm wooden elements and carefully designed lighting fixtures that echo geometric sun patterns. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category demonstrates exceptional spatial organization within its three-meter height constraint. The design successfully addresses economic limitations by transforming affordable materials into sophisticated design elements, creating a space that serves both as a cozy residence and an artistic home office. The interior's conceptual framework particularly responds to the client's artistic background and interest in Persian civilization, incorporating elements of loft architecture while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere. The project's innovative approach to combining raw industrial materials with traditional Persian design elements, along with its creative use of natural light and symbolic architectural features, establishes it as a significant example of contemporary residential interior design that bridges cultural heritage with modern living requirements.
