Mb 01 Mediacenter Computer is a sophisticated digital entertainment device that exemplifies the convergence of premium electronics and artisanal craftsmanship, distinguished by its innovative approach to computer design. Conceived and manufactured in France, this media center computer represents a departure from conventional plastic-dominated computer aesthetics, instead drawing inspiration from 1970s high-fidelity electronic devices. The design features a distinctive external case crafted through a specialized bent wood process, typically employed in skateboard manufacturing, where wood veneers are carefully laminated and pressed into organic, curved forms. This minimalist design philosophy is further enhanced by the thoughtful integration of aluminum and glass elements, creating a harmonious blend of materials that reflects traditional French craftsmanship excellence. The computer's compact dimensions of 341 x 274 x 10.5 millimeters make it ideal for living room placement, while its integrated high-fidelity Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) sets it apart in the market, enabling superior audio performance when connected to high-end sound systems. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2019, demonstrates exceptional attention to sustainability and longevity, challenging the prevalent disposable electronics culture. Its development, spanning from September 2017 to February 2019, culminated in a limited production run that emphasizes quality and craftsmanship over mass production, establishing new standards for sustainable and aesthetically refined computing devices.
