Massaya Packaging is an innovative wine packaging design that revolutionizes traditional wine packaging concepts through its distinctive horizontal orientation and book-like appearance. This sophisticated packaging solution, developed in Lebanon during winter 2013, represents a significant departure from conventional vertical wine packaging designs by prioritizing both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The package, measuring 39x22x8cm, is meticulously crafted to accommodate two wine bottles in a horizontal position, which aligns with optimal wine storage practices. Its unique design philosophy draws parallel between storytelling through books and the narrative quality of fine wines, incorporating vintage book aesthetics into its exterior presentation. The package features a specialized die-cut interior precisely shaped to secure two bottles safely, while its closure system employs four strategic flaps that eliminate the need for adhesive elements. This sustainable design approach challenges the disposable nature of traditional wine packaging by creating a dual-purpose product that serves as both a wine carrier and a decorative box, significantly extending its lifecycle beyond initial use. The design, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award Competition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design Category, demonstrates exceptional innovation in addressing environmental concerns while maintaining premium product presentation. The package's construction utilizes corrugated paper to ensure structural integrity and weight-bearing capacity, making it both practical and environmentally conscious.
