Marilyn Two Seat Sofa Sofa

Marilyn Two Seat Sofa Sofa

Marilyn two Seat Sofa Sofa is an elegant furniture piece that exemplifies the fusion of iconic Hollywood glamour with contemporary furniture design, created by Portuguese designer Rafaela Luis. This sophisticated seating solution, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, draws its inspiration from the legendary Marilyn Monroe and her iconic white dress moment. The design masterfully translates the movement and elegance of Monroe's famous dress into furniture form through specialized upholstery techniques and sculptural wooden feet. Measuring 1600mm x 780mm x 790mm and weighing approximately 35kg, this two-seater sofa represents a harmonious blend of form and function, featuring handcrafted elements that ensure each piece maintains unique characteristics. The design process involved extensive research into Monroe's life story, particularly focusing on the famous blowing dress moment, which was then interpreted through innovative upholstery methods to simulate the dress's flowing movement. The sofa's construction employs a meticulous handcrafting process, beginning with sculpted wooden feet and structure, followed by carefully applied upholstery, foam, and fabric using specialized techniques. This attention to detail creates an emotional connection between the user and the furniture piece, transforming ordinary interiors into extraordinary spaces. The design successfully captures the essence of Hollywood's golden age while maintaining practical functionality, offering customizable material options to suit various interior preferences.
