The design, conceived by architect Tomoya Akasaka, brilliantly incorporates tiered platforms connected by ramps, ensuring universal accessibility while maintaining the experiential quality of a mountain trail. A distinguishing feature of the complex is its expansive, continuous roof system, inspired by the water cycle and the torii gates of the Akone Yashiro Shrine, which creates a cascading rain curtain effect that deepens visitors' connection with nature. The architecture masterfully balances commercial functionality with environmental consciousness through its innovative dual-layer approach: a permanent roof structure that accommodates the evolving needs of commerce below, and smaller retail volumes that create an engaging network of alleys and plazas.
