Manga Sitting Bench

Manga Sitting Bench

Manga Sitting Bench is an innovative outdoor furniture design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of maritime aesthetics and functional urban elements. Created by Spanish designer Enrique Minguez Ros, this sculptural seating solution draws inspiration from marine life and nautical engineering, featuring elegant undulating forms that contribute to giving cities a human scale and collective meaning. The bench, measuring 300 x 82 x 76 centimeters with a seat height of 44 centimeters, employs sustainable materials including fiberglass, fiber-reinforced concrete, and mechanically recycled R-PET plastic, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility throughout its lifecycle. Its minimalist design philosophy is characterized by pure lines and smooth transitions between planes, creating a dynamic visual presence that serves both as functional seating and as an artistic installation in urban landscapes. The design's ergonomic profile and gentle curves invite contemplation and serenity, making it particularly suitable for seafronts, ports, squares, and boulevards. The bench's construction leverages advanced nautical engineering techniques, resulting in a durable and weather-resistant structure that maintains its aesthetic appeal whether occupied or empty. This innovative approach to urban furniture design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition in the Garden and Outdoor Furniture Design category, where it received the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, acknowledging its contribution to advancing the field of outdoor furniture design through its combination of functionality, sustainability, and artistic merit.
