Maher Women's Apparel Store Apparel Store For Women is an innovative retail space design that revolutionizes traditional apparel store concepts through its unique architectural approach and social commentary on mannequin culture. Located in Hamedan, Iran, near the historic Avicenna mausoleum, this 120-square-meter interior space transformation challenges conventional retail display paradigms by replacing traditional mannequin showcases with dynamic human interaction spaces. The design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, features a distinctive 5.5-meter-high independent membrane structure that seamlessly integrates ceiling and walls, incorporating Persian patterns in a contemporary interpretation. A central architectural element is the monumental staircase, designed as an independent object positioned 50 centimeters from the building's walls, creating diverse spatial experiences and viewing opportunities. The store's most striking innovation lies in its reconceptualization of the traditional showcase, where instead of static mannequins, the space features actual people moving through, sitting, and interacting within the display area, effectively transforming the boundary between interior and exterior spaces. The design employs sophisticated materials including compressed foam with polymer cement coating, MDF, ceramic flooring, and metallic elements, all carefully orchestrated to create a harmonious flow between the city space and the store interior. This architectural intervention not only serves its commercial purpose but also functions as an extension of urban space, encouraging social interaction and challenging traditional retail design conventions through its innovative approach to space, movement, and display.
